FAQ

Where do you build?
We cover all Brisbane Suburbs.
Are you fully insured and compliant?
Yes, we are QBCC licenced builders, fully insured and compliant. Waterfield Construction are also registered members of Master Builders Queensland and the Housing Industry Association.
We know what we want but is it possible?
We understand our clients want to know, early in the process, if their ideas are achievable and practical. The Preliminary Services we offer, unique to Waterfield Construction, will help establish this.

  • The purpose of our initial Concept and Viability Consultation Service will determine whether the project would be feasible or viable before proceeding. Based on a design brief from the clients and joint site visit by both the architect and builder, the client will receive concept sketches from the architect and a cost estimate from the builder.
  • With our second Preliminary Service, the builder and architect work together, in consultation with the client and present the client with drawings and documentation suitable for BA and DA (if required). The client will also receive a comprehensive, written quotation from the builder.

Both services are offered for a fee and the fee will be dependent on the size of the project.

Why do you charge for quotes?
  • The team at Waterfield Construction always put the highest level of quality and attention into everything we do, including quotes. There may be other builders that provide free quotes, but this is usually a m² rate. This practice often leads to unnecessary variations, disappointment and disputes during construction, not to mention extension of the construction period, costing the client time & money.
  • We like to provide a personalised, transparent service with a quote that will give you confidence and certainty that your project will be completed to an exceptional standard, on time and on budget.
  • As you can appreciate, there is a significant amount of time, effort & expense that goes into the preparation of a detailed quote, specific to your project. In order to be able to provide this level of service, we require payment of a nominal fee. If you then accept our quotation and proceed with Waterfield Construction, the amount charged for the quoting process will be deducted from the project building costs.
Can you provide references for previous work?
Yes, we can and happy to do so. Past clients can be contacted, and inspections of previous projects can be arranged, if required.
Will I have to sign a building contract before works commence?
By law in Queensland, any works greater than $3,300 require all parties to sign a building contract. We use Housing Industry Association (HIA) contracts that are written in plain English
Once construction begins, who is our main point of contact?
Throughout your project, the main point of contact will be our builder, Richard Waterfield. He will be available Monday to Fridays, from 7:00am to 5:00pm either onsite or via phone, text and email. Richard is available after hours, by request.
Who is responsible for other trades and contractors?
Waterfield Construction are the principal contractor and therefore fully responsible for all other trades and contractors that we engage. All our subcontractors are licenced, fully insured and compliant. We will project manage your build from start to finish.
